^^montagna: "CRESTA EST DI MONTE A MARE"

Nel gruppo delle MAINARDE, partiti dalla Piana le Forme e passando per il Passo dei Monaci, La Metuccia, l'estesa morena di 1,4 chilometri alla base della Cima Le Forme, con Fausto eravamo saliti al CAMPIGLIONE/2014mt.
Mentre riposavamo, la CRESTA EST del vicino MONTE A MARE mi aveva incuriosito parecchio, ed entrata quell'idea in testa una settimana dopo ci torno da solo per una scalata esplorativa, e con lo stesso itinerario d'avvicinamento mi ci ritrovo sotto.
Data la struttura, la via di circa 300 metri di sviluppo non è obbligata e con la linea che scelgo, appena attacco arrampico subito un diedro inclinato a destra con due passi di IV°-, seguiti da un rimonto di III°, per attrezzare immediatamente dopo la sosta su un grande masso a terra.
Scalo quindi uno stretto canalino erboso, III°, che finisce su una zona più appoggiata, dove sosto con una lunga fettuccia su un blocco.
Mentre un paio di camosci mi osservano, al vento fresco continuo scalando rocce con ottimo grip ma che attentamente valuto su ogni presa ed appoggio (II° e III°), e ripide erbe gradinate a volte scivolose.
Esco dalla via a poca distanza dalla vetta a 2160 metri.
Dopo la pausa in cima, con percorso panoramico perdo quota fino al PASSO DEI MONACI, e per la VALLE PAGANA rientro.

In the MAINARDE Massif, with my friend Fausto we went on the CAMPIGLIONE's top.
From here I saw the MONTE A MARE's east ridge wich intrigued me greatly.
So, with this idea entering in my head, a week later I again repeat the long approach to go on it for an alone exploratory climbing.
With its articulated morphology this ridge does not impose an unique line, so I choose a mountaineerig route with just at the attack a dihedral with two steps of IV°-, then rocks with good grip (II° and III°) and steep grasses.
During my climbing two chamois look at me.
I am out of the mountaineering difficulties just nearby MONTE A MARE's Top at 2160 meters a.s.l.
I go down on the panoramic route by PASSO DEI MONACI and VALLE PAGANA.

^^montagna: "MONTE BALDO"

Mi prendo una pausa dalle immersioni sotto il Garda e, stivati momentaneamente gli autorespiratori, zaino in spalla salgo sul MONTE BALDO nelle PREALPI GARDESANE, che dai 70 metri s.l.m. del bacino, ad est lo sovrasta con diverse elevazioni sopra i 2000 metri, per più di venti chilometri di lunghezza .
A MALCESINE(VR) mi imbarco sulla panoramica funivia che velocemente mi trasporta fino ai 1760 metri del TRATTO SPINO dove l'aria più che fresca contrasta quella in basso, e di colpo mi catapulta in montagna.
Parto verso sud, e con buon passo vado sull'articolata traccia del lungo saliscendi delle cime POZZETTE/2132mt. e LONGINO/2179mt che si snoda tra prati in quota, ghiaie, pini mughi, tratti attrezzati con catene e corde fisse, pietrisco, canaloni morenici, rocce erose, imponenti pareti, calcare stratificato identico a quello che vedo sott'acqua, con sempre negli occhi i ripidi e spettacolari affacci sul grande lago, un piccolo mare ed indiscusso protagonista del panorama.
Così, dopo aver anche divagato salendo su un'altura secondaria, in due ore e mezza arrivo sulla CIMA DI VALDRITTA a 2218 metri, la massima del gruppo.
Oltre, il percorso di cresta continua sempre verso sud per la CIMA DEL TELEGRAFO e la stazione di monte della funivia COSTABELLA, a 18 chilometri da dove ho cominciato.
Dopo la pausa rientro sugli stessi passi dell'andata, e poi giù al lago in funivia.


I take a pause from the dives belowe LAKE GARDA, to climb in the PREALPI GARDESANE on the MONTE BALDO, the mountain group 20 kilometers lenght with several peaks above 2000 meters, that closes tha lake on eastern.
From MALCESINE/60meters a.s.l., by cableway fastly I arrive to TRATTO SPINO where suddenly I'm in the fresh air of the 1760 meters a.s.l.
Then, with up and down I go southwards on the long and articulated ridge that offers a splendid view on the lake, a little sea, the unique protagonist of the panorama.
I walk on a path between mountain pine, imponent walls, mountain grasses, steep gullies, moraines, fixed ropes, gravels, erosed rocks, stratified limestone just like the kind I see underwater, and so I arrive on MONTE BALDO's top, the CIMA DI VALDRITTA/2218 meters a.s.l. where I stop myself.
The path continues to CIMA DEL TELEGRAFO and the COSTABELLA's cableway hight station, about 18 kilometers from I came.
On the same track of the ascent I came back to TRATTO SPINO, and then by cableway I return down.

--immersioni: "IL BATTIPALO"

Sotto le sponde di Gardone Riviera(BS), Lago di Garda, a 25 metri di profondità giace il relitto del così detto BATTIPALO. O meglio, c'è solamente quella che era la struttura dell'alta torre metallica al tempo montata su una chiatta, che serviva a conficcare pali nel fondo.
Il colpo d'occhio dell'intreccio reticolare delle travi offre buoni spunti per foto e video.
Inizio da una piccola spiaggia a ciottoli costeggiando in direzione sud a 10 metri di profondità spingendo con le pinne per circa mezz'ora. Quindi mi lascio andare giù dove a 23 metri poco dopo trovo il BATTIPALO.


Below the GARDONE RIVIERA's shore, on Lake Garda, at 25 meters of depht there is the so called wreck of the BATTIPALO.
In effect there is not a ship wreck but only the hight metallic structure, time ago mounted on a barge, used to plant piles on the submerged bottom.
This grid structure offers several good views for photo and movie.
I start from a little shore and at ten meters of depht, by fins I go southwards for about half hour.
Then I go down straight on the maximum slope up to 23 meters where in few minutes i found the BATTIPALO.

^^montagna: "SULLA CRESTA DI ORATINO IN SOLITARIA"

Nell'Appennino Molisano, scalata solitaria sulla panoramica ed esposta cresta della Rocca di Oratino(CB), che termina all'antica torre medievale, X°-XII° d.C.


In the APPENNINO MOLISANO, solo climbing on the panoramic and exposed ROCCA DI ORATINO's ridge, up to the ancient medieval tower, about 10th-12th A.D.

--immersioni: "OLTRE L' ALFA"

Con un'immersione profonda, avevo in mente da tempo di dare un'occhiata oltre il relitto dell'Alfa Romeo Giulietta affondata a Malcesine(VR), sponda est del Lago di Garda.
Inizio a prepararmi di mattino presto, e alle sette e mezza inizio.
Nell'acqua tersa raggiungo l'Alfa a quasi 60 metri, poi m'indirizzo in un territorio per me mai visto, quindi stimolante.
Senza affrettarmi avanzo, ed illuminando scruto il fondale con rari scogli fino ad 80 metri.
Da questo punto in poi l'inclinazione è meno marcata rispetto a sopra allora, aiutato dalla bussola, nell'acqua sempre con ottima visibilità e senza mai forzare continuo. A 92 metri mi fermo e con la torcia illumino a giro d'orizzonte attorno osservando il fondale che continua a rimanere brullo e con pendenza non decisa. Decido quindi d'iniziare la risalita. Ripasso per l'Alfa Romeo, ed ancora su vado a ritrovare l'acqua luminosa dove smaltisco la decompressione.
Alle 9 e 35 riemergo.

With a deep dive, I had thought to explore below the car wreck of the ALFA ROMEO GIULIETTA, at MALCESINE (VR) in the east side of Lake GARDA.
In the early morning I prepare me, and at half past seven I start.
I reach the ALFA's wreck at 60 meters of depht, then I go beyond entering in an unknown ground but very intriguing for me.
I continue without haste but with costancy, illuminating with my dive light the bottom with few rocks on. I arrive at 80 meters of depht.
Continuing I can see that the slope of the bottom is less than above. The compass helps me to stay on the maximum slope, and so into the water with good visibility with calm I reach 92 meters.
Around me the bottom is still not steep, so I decide me for the ascent, where I see the Alfa Romeo. At twentyfive to ten I return on surface.

^^montagna: "L'ULTIMA LINGUA"

Nel pomeriggio di venerdì 29 maggio, partiamo dai 1888 metri del RIFUGIO BRUNO POMILIO alla MAJELLETTA, e dopo tre ore e piu di marcia, ancora semi sepolto dalla neve raggiungiamo a 2455 metri il BIVACCO CARLO FUSCO, che all'imbrunire è illuminato dall'alone lunare.
Nel piccolo ed accogliente ricovero in lamiera gialla prepariamo la cena e mangiamo. Poi, stanchi, a dormire nel sacco a pelo sul legno della branda.
Svegliati alle 4.30 di sabato, mentre sull'ADRIATICO albeggia un'ora dopo iniziamo l'avvicinamento sulla neve ancora dura della notte. Perdiamo quota per circa 300 metri ed al termine di un traverso sotto una parete verticale, tra rocce esposte e mughi oltrepassiamo lo spigolo che ci immette nella concavità alla base della sezione superiore della PARETE NORD DELLE MURELLE, il PAGINONE, che sotto in basso continua nella profonda forra della VALLE DELL'INFERNO, mentre sopra si apre in un severo panorama d'alta montagna di torrioni, ripidi canaloni, guglie, articolate pareti, pinnacoli, scivoli ed ovunque calcare tritato dal ghiaccio invernale.
Dal suo centro parte la linea aperta nell'inverno del 2000 da G.Ferretti (50°con tratti a 60°/AD-/dislivello 400 metri/sviluppo 1000 metri), che va fino in punta.
Sull'ULTIMA LINGUA di neve della stagione, che alle latitudini dell'Appennino abruzzese può resistere anche a fine maggio ed oltre, nella linea d'impluvio principale e su neve continuamente tosta che concede anche alcuni passi su ghiaccio e qualche metro dry, alle 7.30 attacchiamo.
All'inizio dell'ascensione il corpo della montagna alla nostra sinistra ci dà ombra al sole ancora basso sull'orizzonte.
I movimenti di ramponi e picche si alternano agli sguardi sulla selvaggia parete nord delle MURELLE.
Nella parte bassa di qualche grosso masso isolato, dove lo scioglimento forma una gengiva nevosa aperta, troviamo spazio per brevi pause.
Guadagniamo quota e la linea di salita, che piega a destra per aggirare alla base la gigantesca torre che incombe da quando siamo entrati nella nord, ora è illuminata dal sole. Sole che comunque non farà mollare la neve, e grazie al super grip che sentiamo sotto gli attrezzi procediamo bene.
Superiamo un ultimo ripido strappo ed entriamo nel terzo superiore della via, dove troviamo pendenze che via via abbattono arrivando a salire così la rampa nevosa finale che ci condurrà praticamente fino a pochi metri dalla cima.
Scalata terminata, ed ai 2596 metri delle MURELLE soddisfazione, ma soprattutto finalmente possiamo anche starcene seduti.
L'atmosfera senza vento e soleggiata della cima inviterebbe ad uno sbraco prolungato, però siamo solo a metà perché ci attende il lavorato lungo rientro.
Dobbiamo quindi interrompere il piacevole non fare un tubo. Scendiamo prima al centro dell'ANFITETRO DELLE MURELLE a circa 2200 metri, e poi di nuovo in salita al bivacco per recuperare il materiale non alpinistico.
Con la zavorra incrementata rimettiamo gli zaini in spalla, ed in diagonale tra neve e bassi mughi perdiamo quota fino al fontanino alla base del MONTE FOCALONE.
Da qui al BLOKHAUS inizia l'interminabile saliscendi di cresta che, per la gamba che si appesantisce ad ogni nuovo passo, sembra molto più lungo di quello che in effetti già è.
In diversi tratti la rigogliosa ramaglia del mugo ancora piegata di traverso sul sentiero dai carichi di neve ci intralcia non poco. Imprechiamo irripetibilmente ed ingaggiamo l'ostacolo.
Dopo 24 ore esatte ed una ventina di chilometri percorsi da quando ieri lo avevamo lasciato, al Rifugio Pomilio finalmente scarichiamo le spalle dagli zaini, e chiudiamo questo cerchio d'APPENNINISMO sulla MAJELLA, che già da tempo vagava nella testa.

Friday, May 29 in the afternoon we start from the Refuge BRUNO POMILIO/1888 meters in the MAJELLA Massif, and after three ours and more we reach the bivouac CARLO FUSCO/2455 meters still buried in snow, below the moon light.
In the little metallic yellow bivouac we have dinner, then tired we go to sleep into the sleeping bag on the wood of the cot.
We wake up at half past four of the day after, Saturday, and when the sun rises on the Adriatic sea we start the approach on the snow still hard of the night. We go down for about 300 meters of altitude difference, then we cross below a rock wall and a spur to enter into the PAGINONE, the concavity situeted at the base of the hight section of the MURELLE's North Face.
It continues down in the VALLE DELL'INFERNO gorge, while above it becomes a wild enviroment of hight mountain with very steep gullies, rock walls, pinnacles, towers rock and limestones cracked by winter ice.
From the center of the concavity starts the mountaineering route IL PAGINONE (G. Ferretti/winter 2000/50° and steps at 60°/AD-/400 meters of altitude difference/1000 meters of development).
On the LAST TONGUE of snow, that at the latitudes of the ABRUZZO'S mountains remains until May and June, on the main impluvium of this north face, on hard and on some steps on icy snow, at half past seven we attack it.
In the first part of the climbing we stay at the shadow of the rocks on our left, while we alternate our eyes on the wild around with the movements of crampons and ice axes. Nearby little islands of rock in the snow, when possible we have a bit rest for the legs.
We go up, and when the mountaineering line heads it on right to get around the base of an imponent big tower, it returns at the sun and, despite it the snow still remains good for the ice tools.
We continue the ascent and we overcross the last steep snow field, then on gently steep with satisfaction we reach the MURELLE's top at 2596 meters above sea level.
After few minutes of rest, we descend at 2200 meters in the center of the MURELLE's amphitheater, and then again up to the bivouac to retake other our materials leaved there. So we reach the little water source at the base of the Mount FOCALONE.
Then on the up and down of the long ridge, that for our tiredness seems us very more longe of its real, in several points we fight and we swear against the branches of the mountain pines that counterac our walk.
After 24 hours and twenty kilometers and more in the legs, we return at the Refuge POMILIO where we can finally remove the backpacks from our shulders to end this mountaineering circle on the MAJELLA's Massif, in mind from long time.

^^montagna: "CANALINO NORD DEL BRANCASTELLO"

Superato SAN PIETRO, frazione di ISOLA DEL GRAN SASSO(TE), al termine della strada asfaltata a 1100 metri di quota parcheggio.
Sotto la faggeta salgo su sterrata a tornanti ed arrivo ai 1435 metri del rifugio diroccato. Uscito dal bosco poco dopo, vado a destra attraversando una zona di faggi spaccati alla base dall'impatto dalle ultime valanghe che si sono staccate dalla CIMA DELLE FIENARE.
Perdendo poco quota arrivo nella linea d'impluvio del selvaggio e solitario VALLONE, dove già dai 1500 metri posso calzare i ramponi su neve tosta, muovendomi sul terreno cosparso di pietrisco, zolle d'erba e massi provocati dalle slavine.
Continuando sempre su neve dura, mi vado a trovare la linea meno sporca da detriti andandomi poi ad infilare nel CANALINO NORD, passi a 50°, che esce sulla sella poco ad occidente della vetta del MONTE BRANCASTELLO/2385mt. che raggiungo sotto un fastidioso vento teso dopo 1200 metri di dislivello.


Above ISOLA DEL GRAN SASSO and SAN PIETRO, in the GRAN SASSO D'ITALIA massif, at 1100 meters a.s.l. I park at the end of the road.
Below the beech forest and on an off-road, I go up to the old abandoned refuge at 1435 meters a.s.l.
Then, I go to rightwards crossing an area with broken beeches by the avalanches falled from CIMA DELLE FIENARE.
Going down a bit, I reach the impluvium of the wild and solitary gully on the map called VALLONE, where at 1500 meters on very hard snow I can put my crampons climbing between gravel, stones and grasses falled by avalanches.
In the hight section of the mountaineering route and still on good snow, I go into the CANALINO NORD, some steps at 50°, to exit on the sedlle just at west of the BRANCASTELLO's top/2385 meters, that I reach with an hard and annoyng wind after 1200 meters of difference altitude in the legs.

--immersioni: " TRAGHETTO BERARDI"

Alla Spiaggia delle Tavine di Salò (BS), sul Lago di Garda, trovo l'acqua con una visibilità eccezionale.
E' un vero scialo visitare e fare video-riprese sui relitti del traghetto BERARDI e di una barca a vela, ambedue appoggiati sul fondo in assetto di navigazione.
Poco prima di riemergere incrocio uno luccio adulto con il corpo innaturalmente piegato, probabilmente da una malformazione.


At SPIAGGIA DELLE TAVINE of SALO'(BS) on Lake GARDA, I found water with an exceptional visibility.
So, for me is a very pleausure to dive and to take videos on the wrecks of the ferry BERARDI and a sailboat, both sunk in sailing trim on the bottom.
Just at the end of my dive I see an adult pike with a malformed body.

^^montagna: "MEZZI LITRI"

Nel massiccio dei SIBILLINI, il canale dei MEZZI LITRI è il primo sulla destra orografica del versante sud/sud-est del MONTE VETTORE/2476mt.
Arrivando da PRETARE(AP), poco prima del valico di FORCA DI PRESTA lascio l'auto a circa 1400 metri ed inizio.
A 1550 metri, quasi alla base del canalone, nella sua linea d'impluvio già trovo ottima neve da ramponi che mi consente un buon ritmo.
Nella salita mi tengo all'ombra della linea rocciosa che ho a destra calcando neve durissima, mentre alla sinistra osservo i caratteristici e singoli tozzi pinnacoli di calcare che sembrano fiaschette da mezzo litro, i MEZZI LITRI appunto.
All'aumentare della quota incrementa la pendenza, che sotto la FONTE DELLE CIAULE dà un ultimo strappetto a 40°.
Transito al lato del Rifugio TITO ZILIOLI/2250mt, e per arrotondata dorsale arrivo in cima al VETTORE/2476mt. in questa bella giornata di sole.
Scendo sulla mia stessa traccia di salita.


In the SIBILLINI Massif, the MEZZI LITRI (Half Litres) gully, is the first on the orographic right of the south/south-east face of the MONTE VETTORE/2476 meters a.s.l.
Arriving from PRETARE(AP), before the FORCA DI PRESTA pass I leave the car at 1400 meters a.s.l.
I start for my ascent and at 1550 meters, practically at the base of the gully, I put on my crampons on good snow that allows me to climb well and fastly.
In this part of the ascent I stay at the shadow of the interesting rocky line on my right on an excellent hard snow, while on left I can see several characteristics singles short limestone pinnacles, that seem half litres bottles.
At the increase of the altitude, increases the slope of the gully just below FONTE DELLE CIAULE.
I pass close the Refuge TITO ZILIOLI/2250 meters, and then by a rounded ridge up to the MONTE VETTORE top, at 2476 meters in this beautiful sunny day.
I descend on my same steps of the ascent.

^^montagna: "CANALE TRA I GEMELLI"

Tra i due canaloni GEMELLI della parete nord del SIRENTE, un naturale impluvio detto CANALE TRA I GEMELLI chiuso alla sinistra orografica da una crestina, risale dalla base delle pareti fino alla chilometrica cresta principale del massiccio.
Partiti dal parcheggio dei PRATI DEL SIRENTE che albeggia, su traccia con rari omini e stinti segnali risaliamo per 700 metri di dislivello fino al termine della bella faggeta, arrivando sotto il GEMELLO DI SINISTRA.
Tra pietre e neve traversiamo verso destra/ovest fino al punto più alto della morena giungendo sulla direttrice del canale.
Proprio all'attacco, per un'ottantina di metri scalo su terreno "dry" tra erbe ripide e calcare rotto; un paio di passi di II°+.
Poi andiamo su neve portante per tutta la linea fino all'uscita, dove siamo investiti da un vento da nord.


On the SIRENTE north face between the two gullies GEMELLI(Twins), there is a third called the CANALE TRA I GEMELLI. This gully from the moraine at the base of the wall, goes up to the main ridge of the massif.
In the early morning from PRATI DEL SIRENTE we start the approach on the path with rare signals, below the beech forest for 700 meters of difference altitude up to the base of the GEMELLO DI SINISTRA.
Towards our right/west, on stones and patches of snow we go up to the highest point of the moraine, just at the attack of the gully.
On its begine, for about 80 meters I climb on a ground in dry of snow on steep meadows and broken limestone; two steps of II°+.
Then on good snow for ice tools, on all the line we go up to its exit, where we are bit by a strong north wind.

^^montagna: "COMPIUTA SOLITUDINE"

Appena fuori dei confini del PARCO NAZIONALE d'ABRUZZO, LAZIO e MOLISE, osservando dalla SERRA MARRAZZO verso sud-est, sulla parete nord dell'ultima elevazione a 1713 metri del crinale che arriva dal MONTE SAN MARCELLO/1977mt, si snoda l'itinerario invernale COMPIUTA SOLITUDINE (AD/50°-60°/V.Abbate aprile 2008).
Da FORCA d'ACERO/1530 mt. (P.N.A.L.M.) scendendo sul versante laziale, poco sopra del primo stretto tornante che si incontra, abbiamo parcheggiato iniziando l'avvicinamento in traverso a sinistra/sud-est indirizzandoci all'ampia VALLE INGUAGNERA. Raggiunta in basso la linea d'impluvio di questa, alla nostra destra/sud saliamo decisi sulla massima pendenza prima per prato e poi per bosco per guadagnare la cresta della SERRA MATARAZZO, dalla quale siamo poi scesi nella solitaria e bella VALLE LATTARA, arrivando così all'attacco della via.
Su pendenze costanti e su neve portante scaliamo questo itinerario invernale, che proprio in alto ci regala un ripido tratto di tipico DRY d'APPENNINO D.O.C. su erbe, terriccio e rocce.
Nel rientro osserviamo dei camosci pascolare tranquilli.


In the ABRUZZO, LAZIO and MOLISE National Park, looking from the SERRA MATARAZZO towards south-east, below the elevation at 1713 meters a.s.l. of the MONTE SAN MARCELLO's north face, there is the winter route COMPIUTA SOLITUDINE (difficulty AD/50°-60°/V.Abbate/2008 april).
After FORCA D'ACERO/1530 meters, towards south and outside the beyonds of the national park, we park to start our approach. We overcome the VALLE INGUAGNERA, the ridge of the SERRA MATARAZZO, and then we enter in the beautiful and silent LATTARA Valley, to reach the base of the winter route.
On good snow we climb the gully, that just below the top "offers" us the typical APPENNINO DRY of snow where we use crampons and ices axe on very steep meadows and rocks.
On the way back we see chamois grazing.

^^montagna: "VIA DEL CUCULO"

Alla destra del Circo della Parete, la struttura rocciosa che sostiene la cima del Monte Viglio/2156 metri nei Monti Ernici, c'è la Via del Cuculo (V.Abbate aprile 1977).
Partiti da quota 1200 metri, rimontiamo sotto la bella faggetta incontrando la neve a 1500 metri.
Appena usciti dal bosco ci troviamo alla base dell'anfiteatro calcareo del Circo. Vicini una fascia di rocce e su buona neve per gli attrezzi scaliamo il canale ed arriviamo in vetta.
Scendiamo poi per il Circo dei Sassoni, il vallone orograficamente a sinistra del Circo della Parete.


On right of the CIRCO DELLA PARETE, the rocky structure just below the MONTE VIGLIO top at 2156 meters a.s.l. in the ERNICI Massif, there is the winter mountaineeting route VIA DEL CUCULO (V.Abbate, april 1977).
We start from 1200 meters of altitude and walking below the beech forest, we meet the snow at 1500 meters.
At the end of the forest we arrive at the base of the limestone amphitheatre where, on good snow for the tools, we climb the gully.
We descend on the CIRCO DEI SASSONI, the large gully on left orographic of the CIRCO DELLA PARETE.

^^ montagna: "VIA CRESCENZI"

Ancora sul versante nord-ovest del Monte Forcellone nelle Mainarde/Parco Nazionale d'Abruzzo, Lazio e Molise, per un'invernale sulla Crescenzi.
Giunti alla base della parete, su pendenze che incrementano rimontiamo il canalone all'inizio molto ampio, fino ad uscire sul filo di cresta scalando il tratto finale a 70° su neve ghiacciata.
Dalla vetta a 2030 metri, in direzione ovest/sud-ovest andiamo sull'articolata cresta che unisce il Forcellone al Monte Stazzitello/1561 metri, quindi scendiamo per il suo versante nord, con alcuni metri ghiacciati e passi a 40°, fino a Il Piano.


Again on the MONTE FORCELLONE north-west face, in the MAINARDE Massif/ABRUZZO, LAZIO and MOLISE National Park, to climb the winter mountaineering route CRESCENZI.
Into the gully on slopes from 45° and just at its end and on icy snow to 70°, we clib to reach the target.
From the top at 2030 meters a.s.l. we descend to west/south-west, on the panoramic ridge up to MONTE STAZZITELLO/1561 meters, then on its north slope with some steps at 40°, we go down to the long plateau called IL PIANO.

^^montagna: "CRESTA EST DI PIZZO DETA"

Alle sette del mattino partiamo dai 1143 metri s.l.m. dei Pozzi Vecchi di Prato di Campoli (FR). Risaliamo ripidamente sotto la faggeta fino a raggiungere la linea spartiacque tra Abruzzo e Lazio sulla cresta sud di Pizzo Deta, dove ci sono ancora alcuni cippi in pietra del vecchio confine tra lo Stato Pontificio ed il Regno delle Due Sicilie pre unità d'Italia. Fuori del bosco arriviamo ad un intaglio a 1685 metri dove ci fermiamo e mettiamo i ramponi.
Alla nostra sinistra lasciamo l'appoggiata cresta, e verso nord e su neve da subito ottima per gli attrezzi entriamo nel versante più verticale della montagna.
Perdendo poca quota traversiamo sotto due strutture rocciose di cui una a base strapiombante con appese stalattiti di ghiaccio, quindi risaliamo appena sopra il margine del bosco fino alla base della Cresta Est di Pizzo Deta, seconda cima degli Ernici.
Poco alla sua destra e sempre su neve tosta, su una ripida rampa a 70° scaliamo i primi 60-70 metri per riguadagnarne il filo.
Nella parte mediana della cresta, su terreno di misto proseguiamo contornando spuntoni e pinnacoli.
Nel terzo superiore della via ritroviamo la continuità della neve ottima che ci consente di andare fin dove la Cresta Est si spegne, praticamente in vetta.


At seven o'clock a.m. we start from POZZI VECCHI of PRATO DI CAMPOLI/1143 meters a.s.l.
On a steep path, we go into the beech forest up to the PIZZO DETA south ridge, where are historical stone signals of the ancient border between the STATO PONTIFICIO and the REGNO DELLE DUE SICILIE, before the Italy unity.
Then we reach the altitude of 1685 meters a.s.l. where we let's put on the crampons.
From here we head toward north, entering in the wild and vertical side of the mountain where are some mountaineering winter routes. We cross below imponent rock structures with ice stalactites, arriving at the base of the PIZZO DETA EAST RIDGE just above the border of the forest, and on its right we start.
We climb the first 60-70 meters on a steep slope/70°; then in the middle of the ridge carefully on a mixed ground of stones, snow and grasses around some rock towers, and on the hight section just up to the PIZZO DETA top, again on a excellent hard snow for ice tools.

Anche se l'immersione in questo sito del Lago di Castelgandolfo lo già fatta diverse volte, nel buio è sempre come una piccola sorpresa vedere apparire di colpo la caratteristica sagoma di un vecchio VOLKSWAGEN MAGGIOLINO, affondato da chissà quanto tempo.
Nella nuotata sommersa d'avvicinamente sul fondale fangoso incrocio alcune anguille.


I have done this dive into the Lake Castelgandolfo several times, but it's always like a little surprise when suddenly I see in the darkness the feature and unique design car-shape of an old VOLKSWAGEN MAGGIOLINO, sunk a lot of time ago.
During the approach I have seen on the muddy-bottom some eels.

^^montagna: "DIRETTISSIMA AL FORCELLONE"

Nel gruppo delle Mainarde/Parco Nazionale d'Abruzzo, Lazio e Molise, scaliamo la DIRETTISSIMA AL FORCELLONE.
Dai Prati di Mezzo/1431 metri, alle sette del mattino iniziamo l'avvicinamento passando per la Valle Forestella, ed usciti dal bosco di faggi ci troviamo in vista del versante nord-ovest del Monte Forcellone.
Calzati i ramponi, per vallette e piccole alture, su neve dura arriviamo alla base della Direttissima, il canalone che dalla cima dritto scende giù. Su pendenze crescenti e sempre su ottima neve lo scaliamo, osservando a sinistra la vetta della Meta. Usciamo a 2030 metri ... per suonare il campanaccio in cima.
Dopo il breve recupero, verso nord-est ci portiamo fino alla Sella di Prato Piano tra il Forcellone ed il Monte Cavallo, sul quale da solo salgo per la cresta ovest raggiungendone la cima a 2039 metri, mentre l'amico mi attende alla sella.
Nel rientro passiamo a nord del Monte Predicopeglia sotto le sue ripide strutture di calcare spaccato, pinnacoli e canaloni.


In the MAINARDE massif/ABRUZZO, LAZIO and MOLISE NATIONAL PARK, we climb the DIRETTISSIMA AL FORCELLONE.
From Prati di Mezzo/1431 meters, at seven o'clock a.m. we start crossing the VALLE FORESTELLA. Then we arrive in the front of the MONTE FORCELLONE north-west face.
Overcrossing little valleys and hills, we arrive at the base of the DIRETTISSIMA, the gully that from the top streight drops down.
With the ice tools, on steep slope and on hard snow watching on our left the META peak, we climb up to the Forcellone at 2030 meters above sea level ... to ring its bell.
After the rest, we descend toward north-east to PRATO PIANO mountain seddle, between the Mount FORCELLONE and Mount CAVALLO, where on its west ridge I alone climb on the top/2039 meters, while my friend waits me.
We came back below the Mount PREDICOPEGLIA north face watching its steep and broken limestone structures of pinnacles and gullies.

Dai Piani di Pezza (AQ), fino al Costone della Cerasa (2119mt), nel massiccio del Velino, attraversando su neve boschi e creste.

From Piani di Pezza(AQ), up to Costone della Cerasa (2119mt), in the Velino Massif (Abruzzo), on snow crossing beech forests and ridges.

^^montagna: "MONTE DELLA CORTE"

Negli Appennini Abruzzesi, a 12° sotto zero, da Passo Godi (1630mt) passando per lo stazzo di Ziomas, il Monte del Campitello (2014mt) ed il Valico della Corte, fino al Monte della Corte a 2182, su neve di tutti i tipi (polvere, crosta, ghiaccio), in questo itinerario invernale di 18 chilometri totali.


In the APPENNINI ABRUZZESI, from PASSO GODI/1630 meters a.s.l. at 12°C below zero, crossing ZIOMAS, MONTE DEL CAMPITELLO/2014 meters a.s.l. and the VALICO DELLA CORTE, up to MONTE DELLA CORTE/2182 meters a.s.l., on all types of snow (powder, crust and ice), in this 18 kilometres winter tour.

La maggior parte dei relitti di automobili che si trovano sotto i laghi di solito ci sono finiti dopo essere stati usati illegalmente.
In una zona sotto la sponda orientale del Lago di Castelgandolfo(Roma), in momenti diversi ho incontrato sparsi a varie profondità i resti di una vecchia FIAT 126 rossa, prima cannibalizzata per i ricambi, quindi fatta a pezzi buttati sott'acqua.

In a dive site under Lake Castelgandolfo east shore, in different times I met the pices of an old red "FIAT", model 126.
